XS + JET = Monday Night Done Right

(11/23/2009)

People often ask me "Hey Shulman, where do the hep cats swing on a Monday night?" (Or, at least, that's how some beatnik buddies might've phrased it in the '50s...).

Anyhow, Mondays are all about color; vibrant and electronic color, to be precise.  And no two places are more packed with color than XS at Encore at Wynn Las Vegas, and JET at The Mirage.  Smiles abound and people are out with the sole intention of raising those metaphoric roofs.

This week, I had two friends in Vegas from London-town, and they had a boogie-bug they just couldn’t scratch, so I called Jesse Waits who insisted we head right over to XS.  The crowd was gorgeous, and the music was elite, including a fabulous mash-up of “Just Dance” by Lady Gaga and “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” by The Eurythmics.  After a bunch of Flirtinis (these chicks were hard-core; although as driver, I was guzzling Diet Coke after the first round), we decided to call it a night, and bid adieu to Crystal (our delightful server).

By the time we reached the valet, however, that party locomotive was itchin’ again, so I texted Jodi Meyers to see if it was worth swinging by JET (“Yes!” was her emphatic reply).  So, we hopped in my mobile and jetted-off to JET.

Accuse me of being a snob, if you will, but there’s nothing like service, and having a gentleman like Dave Roberts waiting for your arrival in The Mirage’s North Valet, greeting you by name, and holding the doors for your lady-friends is service personified.  They say chivalry is dead, but not while Dave Roberts is on the scene!  This guy’s got the service game DOWN!

Anyhoo – Dave took us to the VIP stage behind the DJ Booth and the girls and I guzzled some Evian (we’re fierce, not foolish) to rehydrate, then danced a bit.  Sean Chester was there and so was poker super-star Phil Ivey (who knows me only as “Jeff’s brother” – but I take what I can get…).

We had a wonderful time, as per the uze, and the girls have already written home to their pals about the fun hijinks that ensued.

ShulmanSays for Monday nights on the Strip, get into the one-two punch of XS and JET.
