What does Tiësto have in common with millions of club-goers around the world?  He loves Tiësto.  Ha, ha – just kidding (kind of).  But there’s a huge body of work to back-up the Grammy-nominated (for his album Elements of Life) Dutch DJ’s full-of-himselfness; and this weekend, you can find-out for yourself, when he headlines the goings-on this Labor Day Weekend, at Wet Republic Ultra Pool at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino.

Not for nothing was he rated the world’s number one DJ for three consecutive years (2002 – 2004), by DJ Mag – and has been ranked second or third, every year since.  He was also ranked number one by Mixmag, in 2008.  For Pete’s sake, he performed at the opening ceremony of the 2004 Summer Olympics, in Athens, Greece!  But it was in 2000, with the raging success of his remix of “Silence” by Delirium that Tiësto really splashed onto the world-scene.  The song, co-written by and featuring the vocals of Lilith-vixen Sarah McLachlan, is considered by many to be one of the greatest trance songs, ever; and was propelled to the top of the charts thanks to frequent club-play by prominent DJs like Paul Oakenfold.

Earlier this year, Tiësto released a compilation album, Club Life: Volume One Las Vegas, named for the series of sets he played at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.  The album reached number three on Billboard’s “Top Electronic Albums” chart.

Now, he’s back in Las Vegas, promoting the release of his newest single, “Work Hard, Play Hard” – a fantastic tribute to this particular holiday, with its chorus, where mono-monikered vocalist Kay preaches that “It’s time to lose my mind, ‘cause I work damn hard, so I play damn hard.”  If that doesn’t sum-up LDW in the L-V, for you, then nothing will.
