It takes me roughly 30 seconds to “do” my hair.  Of course, I’ve lost much of mine, and what’s left requires only my fingers and a dollop of Rogaine mousse.  My friends with longer and fuller tresses, however, require a bit more upkeep – and sometimes; well, sometimes a baseball cap, headband, or scrunchie just isn’t gonna cut it.

So, what do you do if, like many of my friends, you find that - in addition to shuttling your kids to and from school, doing the shopping, going to work, and the like – you have occasion to put on a pretty frock, some sassy pumps, and a bit of bling; but you simply have neither the time, nor the inclination to give yourself that glamourous wavy coif that brings all the boys to your yard?  Or, perhaps time is on your side, but the extent of your styling skills is a ponytail in a rubber band?  Well, it’s my pleasure to introduce our Valley to some totally fabulous dolls, the likes of which Jacqueline Susann never imagined.

The ever-effervescent Latoya Holman (she of the fabulous smile and wavy locks), came-up with the fantabulous idea of combining the blow-dry bar she knew Las Vegas sorely needed; with the cheerful teahouses she came to love, while visiting London.

Now, for those of you who aren’t familiar with what, exactly, a blow-dry bar is; it’s a salon that doesn’t offer cutting or coloring services.  So, what sorts of beauty rituals are performed at Blowout Dollhouse?  Washing, setting, styling, and the like – yes.  Scalp massages – sure.  Manis, pedis, and make-up services – you betcha.  Brazillian-blowouts and lash-extensions – absolutely!

But that’s not all.  With locations in Summerlin (at Tivoli Village) and in Downtown Las Vegas (Container Park), Blowout Dollhouse has become quite the scene.  The fun and inviting atmosphere has proven to be so inviting that, although conceived for those on the go, both Blowout Dollhouse locations have morphed into places to linger, catch-up with friends, and perhaps eat a cupcake or three.  Some take the kinder and avail themselves of the Mommy & Me Princess Packages, while others rent-out the whole joint and partake of the Dollhouse Lockdown (great for birthday parties, girls’ nights out, bridal parties, b’not mitzah, you name it…).  Regulars can even enroll in the Good Hair Sorority!

And for those who’re lacking transportation – or are simply too lazy to get in your car and drive (I’m not judging…  Glass houses, etc.), BODH will send a Doll to you.

Meanwhile, focusing on those of you with too much on their plate to even conceive of driving to-and-from a salon, Mickey Norton has the answer to your hair-prayers.  She started Viva Blowout, to come deal with your coif, wherever you might be.  Specializing in a quartet of Vegas-centric styles, Viva Blowout will give you your choice of the Spade, Heart, Club, or Diamond; in your home, office, or hotel room.  Fees are $60 (if ordered more than four hours in advance), and $100 (if booked less than four hours in advance).  And since you pay via credit card, when ordering your service, and gratuities are included; you never need to worry about cash, or math!
