Some television shows make a blip on the cultural landscape as much for the goings-on behind the camera and off, as well as what we viewers see at home.
It’s the bond of false-friendship found in fandom (that in some states is known as “stalking”) that is fueled by watching the “Behind the Scenes” or “Bloopers” options, found on the EXTRAS screen of any Collector’s Edition DVD or Blue Ray.
There are different queues. Sometimes it’s the kitsch; and others the goofiness. Sometimes it’s the obscure pop culture references; while others, it’s the watering eyes and clenched jaw belying the urge to crack-up (again) on the twelfth take.
Whatever the reason, some series just give off a fun vibe – to me, anyways. Whether it’s the seeming friendship of the cast, the playful party-like atmosphere on the set, or the ability of great actors to take the words of great writers and make me laugh. I certainly don’t care what the reason – these shows strike me as having the kind of jovial on-set comaraderie that would be fun to observe, and enhances the experience for the viewer.
Then again – what the Hell do I know about Hollywood?
