To the extent that learning should be fun, museums are stationary pleasure-cruises of enjoyment, under one roof.  In the case of the Las Vegas Natural History Museum, that roof is moving, and in 2013 will take over the space currently occupied by the Lied Discovery Children’s Museum, when that organization moves into its new digs, in Symphony Park.

In the meantime, in an effort to raise much-needed funds for its education programs aimed at under-served kids, the LVNHM (no relation to LVMH) is throwing Sundown in Downtown – a decidedly grown-up party (ages 21 and over), with a carnival-theme, on the evening of Friday, June 22nd.  And while the party will take place, outside, under the starry desert sky, guests will be among the first to take-in the museum’s newest exhibits.

With the eats provided by some of the area’s most popular eateries, including The Barrymore, Triple George Grill, Hash House a Go Go, and Casa Don Juan; and the drink provided by the likes of Mob Bar, Coca Cola, and Southern Wine and Spirits of Nevada; guests are sure to be sated and stuffed.

On the entertainment side, there will be strolling troubadours and performance artists, as well as live shows by Wild Card and the cleverly-named Kid Meets Cougar.

So, step right up, and see the Las Vegas Natural History Museum, in a whole new light!
