I was first introduced to the choreography of Twyla Tharp through her collaborations with film director Milos Forman, including Hair, Ragtime, and Amadeus. Then, in 2008, the woman who had studied under Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham was honored as Woman of the Year by Nevada Ballet Theatre. Held at Wynn Las Vegas, and sponsored by Cartier, the event was co-chaired by Gillian Wynn, and was a real tribute to one of the true greats of modern dance.
Who could have foreseen then, that this honorarium would set the wheels in motion for what would be the newest show to hit The Strip? The perfect parfait of creative talent, SINATRA Dance with Me combines the soaring choreography of Twyla Tharp; the signature arrangements of top-drawer composers and band-leaders like Nelson Riddle, Billy May and Quincy Jones; and the vocal flair of a man who has become inexorably connected to the image of this city – Frank Sinatra, (not to mention some incredibly talented dancers).

Mr. Sinatra’s words and music are, according to Steve Wynn “set to incredible movement by Twyla Tharp,” through performances by a fantastically talented troupe of dancers, who move “with an intense, electrifying action.”
I went, opening night, to see SINATRA Dance with Me, and was blown-away by the panache of the show; how it managed to exude the best of yesteryear, in a decidedly contemporary style.
The show is fun, exciting, smart, sensual, sexy, and (I’m thrilled to say) has just been extended through April 2nd.

To sweeten the pot even further, Wynn Las Vegas is now offering the SINATRA Dine and Dance with Me Package where, for $145 per person, you can catch this amazing performance and dine in style on the classic Italian cuisine of Chef Theo Schoenegger at Sinatra. It’s all Sinatra, all night, and what could be more Vegas-y than that?
