Lots to Say about Saturday – Part 1

(05/01/2010)
Sat May 1 Norm Baker
A sleek and sexy car from Norm Baker Motor Co.

Have you ever had one of those weeks where everything just seems to be a day off?  Well, it happens to me every so often, and this week was one such week.  Thursday felt like Friday, and I was convinced that Friday was Saturday, so by the time Saturday rolled-around, I was completely discombobulated.

Sat May 1 Brad and Chef
Brad Masterson and Chef Matthew Silverman

Saturday started-out much like any other.  I slept-in, woke-up to Sammy swatting me with his paw to refill his water bowl, and reached for my BlackBerry to see what I had in the hopper for that day.  It was a big weekend, what with the Mayweather/Mosley bout at MGM Grand, the Annual PRIDE Parade and Festival, and two groups of friends in town.  According to my calendar, I had to zip up to Summerlin for Vintner Grill’s annual Wine & Wisconsin Artisan Cheese Tasting, then, go Downtown to the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, for Jaye Straus’ bat mitzvah, then to Wynn Las Vegas to meet-up with some friends.  At least nothing required me to be in Henderson, and everything was freeway adjacent…

Sat May 1 Emily and Susie
Emily Goodman and Susie Lee

It was a simply gorgeous day (May in Las Vegas, why shouldn’t it have been?), and the perfect setting for the shiny and sexy display of cars provided by Norm Baker Motor Co.  The affair was a benefit for Nevada Ballet Theatre and hosted by Joele and Michael Corrigan.  I was delighted to see Vanessa Breitling, out and about (and back in heels), a mere two weeks after giving birth to her second daughter.  Vanessa is just a little slice of heaven on a Triscuit, and j’adore her all the live-long day.   As I looked around, I saw Brad Masterson with Chef Matthew Silverman; spied talented designer Todd-Avery-Lenahan by the buratta, and observed Emily Goodman, looking chic as ever.  Adding a delicious burst of color was Susie Lee with her affable husband Dan.  But, the clock was ticking and I had a lot of driving to do; so (after skewering a few more slabs of cheese on the fly) I skedaddled to my car, and headed Downtown.

There’s more to come, and I’ll tell you all about it, in Part 2!
