On February 9th, 2008, Michael Bublé headlined Keep Memory Alive’s annual Power of Love™ gala, benefiting the Lou Ruvo Brain Institute (now the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health).  The affair, honoring the organization’s co-Founder, Bobby Baldwin, went down in the annals of Las Vegas philanthropy for a number of reasons, not the least of which was the way Bublé reacted when presented with his check by Larry Ruvo, after his performance.

I had managed to finagle my way backstage (as I am wont to do, upon occasion), and had just been with Chef David Robins, commending him on our delicious dinner; when I stumbled upon Messrs. Ruvo and Bublé.  Ruvo had, with all the skill of a man born and bred in Las Vegas, subtly slipped Bublé his appearance fee for the night, in the form of a check.  Bublé, who had been so taken with the organization and its mission (eradicating neurodegenerative brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Huntington’s, Parkinson’s, ALS, and Multiple Sclerosis) handed the check back to Ruvo, saying something along the lines of how he was unable to accept it, because his parents were getting older, and he could only hope that when they encountered such diseases that they should have and organization like the Ruvo Center doing everything it could, on their behalf.

Ruvo was flummoxed (in the most wonderful way), put his arm around Bublé, and asked me “Can you believe this guy?” and then proceeded to tell me the story, of what had just transpired.

I’ve never forgotten it, and so I was delighted to find-out that the first private performance to be held at the Frank Gehry-designed Keep Memory Alive Event Center would be that of four-time Grammy Award-winner, Michael Buble, in an intimate format, for only 300 guests.

And, as we’ve come to expect from KMA, it’s going to be an exquisitely well-rounded affair, with delicious fare by Chef Scott Conant, Champagne from Dom Pérignon, and some of the world’s finest wines and spirits.

The ultra-exclusive evening is nearly sold-out, so if you wanna get a ticket, you better hop-to-it, and contact Keep Memory Alive’s amazing special events team, tout de suite!  And fear not, men – while the invitation calls for “Cocktail Attire,” in true KMA-fashion, it’s “No Ties” for guys!
