DIOR FW 2011/12 |
It’s Fashion’s Night Out! A for-profit venture, if ever there was one; but thanks to the wherewithal of Judy Stone, Director of Marketing for Crystals at CityCenter, the evening has morphed into something with a decidedly philanthropic bent.
I was actually with Stone (at the opening of the Louis Vuitton boutique on the Via Bellagio), when she was just starting to put together her idea for a fashionable philanthropy crawl, involving more than a dozen of Crystal’s A-list tenants, each paired for the evening, with a local charity; and I told her to count me in!

So, I’ll be spinning the tunes, over at DIOR (a brand I will forever adore), joining hosts Courtney & Andrew Levy and Susie Lee (an ever-stylish example of Las Vegas’ indefatigable philanthropic spirit) for a cocktail reception and shopping event benefiting Communities In Schools of Nevada.
Meanwhile, the DIOR prêt-a-porter Fall Winter 2011/12 collection is what I imagine might happen if Annie Hall’s chocolate got into Zorro, the Gay Blade’s peanut butter, on the Portobello Road. It’s full of swashbuckler motifs, velvet, fur, men’s tailoring, and intense jewel tones.
So, I’ll close with one of my favorite lines from that 30 year old camp classic; where George Hamilton (portraying both El Zorro and his gay brother, Bunny Wigglesworth), cries out “My people! There is no shame in being poor: only in dressing poorly!”
