As many of you are aware, Jacob and I are celebrating our Domestic Partnership in a few months. As a result, we find ourselves in a bit of a pickle. Registering for gifts is a lot more difficult that one would think. It’s not that we're opposed to gifts (quite to the contrary, I assure you), but rather that there is nothing that we really need. I mean, really – what’s someone going to do? Get us a fourth gravy boat? Sorry, but we’re not that gay!
Over the past year, I’ve (somewhat) jokingly proclaimed that we plan to register at the Private Bank at Wells Fargo, and at Lee’s Discount Liquors. Jacob has informed me, however, that this would be particularly gauche. I’m not sure why, considering that in our household, the two greatest consumables are money and merlot.

Thanks to being on the receiving-end of some furniture and art from my grandmothers, as well as being the recipient of crates full of items passed-down from my mother, Jan (things we lovingly refer to as “Jan-me-downs”) including numerous sets of fine china, sterling silver, and crystal; a plethora of objets d’art, tchotchkes, and bric-à-brac; not to mention paintings galore (we have so little wall-space remaining, that we’ve taken to hanging some of the art in our garage), we are at a loss as to where and for what we should register.
As such, we’re looking for suggestions. Send us your ideas either by clicking on the Contact Us tab at the top of this page, or by using the Post a Comment button, below this article. Your submissions (good, bad, fantastic, absurd, genius, ludicrous, and otherwise) will be revealed, in a future post.
We thank you for your help. Lord knows, we need it! |
