Brava to Brooke Mitchell and the party the Filthy Mouth Clothing designer hosted at Ghostbar at Palms on Wednesday night, during MAGIC.  Celebrating the new looks she was featuring in this season's collection, Brooke oversaw a photo-shoot in the middle of the swanky lounge.  No half-assed shoot, this, our Miss Brooke proved the real deal, complete with a set, a professional photographer (Las Vegas lensman, Shane O’Neal, who brought the lighting kits, flashes, screens, as well as an adorable photographer’s assistant he'd imported from LA for the occasion, who was dresses all in black, naturally), a megaphone, and two pairs of director’s chairs.  As you might imagine, the crowd ate it up.

And speaking of the crowd, hats off to Ghostbar’s new director, Mike Diamond!  The Aussie import (by way of New York and LA – he opened Bungalow 8 for my darling Amy Sacco     some 10 years  ago…) had a bigger crowd in the luxe lounge than I’ve seen in many moons.  It’s nice to go back to the classics.  Just ask the stylish DJ 88 (aka Bree Cohen) who spun some real ‘80s gems that night (I think I heard everything from Kraftwerk to Kool Moe Dee).

Also, Ghostbar still has one of the most expansive views of the Las Vegas Strip, due to its location, high atop the Palms Casino Resort, one-block west of the famed boulevard.  It’s still a favorite of many “old-school” Las Vegas nightlife types, but it’s finding the rebirth of its coolness, and I couldn’t be happier.  I’m just glad that as I’ve aged, the lighting story has gone from silver to pink – it’s ever so much more flattering on this haggard old bag...

Boo!
