The global unveiling of Dom Pérignon's latest collaboration - with auteur David Lynch - required a 3-day sojourn in Hollywood.

As lazy as I tend to be, sometimes attending a great party requires some travel.  Fortunately for those of us calling Las Vegas home, Los Angeles is close enough to warrant such occasional trips.  So, when Nicole Ruvo asked if I’d  be interested in coming to Hollywood for the global unveiling of Dom Pérignon by David Lynch – a limited edition collaboration, only the second by a living artist, in the venerated prestige cuvée’s storied history (the first was Karl Lagerfeld) – my answer wasn’t merely “Yes,” but rather, an excited “Hells yeah!”

The first night entailed a dinner in the effortlessly chic courtyard of the Chateau Marmont.  The music for both nights had been curated by Donna D’Cruz of Rasa Living, and on this evening consisted of the jazzy sounds of Paris Loves LA, both with lead singer Adele Jacques, and with guest vocalist Sophia Bastian

The next evening, at the main event, guests arrived in chauffeur-driven SUVs, and stepped-and-repeated their ways down the red carpet, before approaching the pavilion of Milk Studios, where the gathered gathered; then down a long hallway to the studios that had all been transformed into a fabulously dark exhibit demonstrating the various scenes from the recent Power of Creation campaign that Lynch had created for Dom Pérignon.

Laser beams bounced off of trays of jewels.  The DP shield was lit against fog à la the Bat-Signal.  Bottles were submerged in bubbling water.  And over it all, phonic experimentalist, Jeremy Ellis, showered his on-the-fly grooves upon the swells, as we supped on a gourmet mini-buffet of sliced veal, truffle risotto (with truffles shaved fresh, for each guest), and fingerling potatoes drizzled with a mole sauce.

Then, the wall lifted, and guests descended the stairs, into Milk’s gargantuan hangar, where David Lynch said a few words, and then introduced The Kills, who rocked the house, hard.  After Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince (aka The Kills' "VV" and "Hotel") wrapped-up, that dino-nicknamed turntablist Diplo took over the soundscape, and spun until the wee hours.
