Diddy - Helicopter
Diddy knows how to make an entrance

All sorts of big name talent is descending upon Palms Casino Resort for the big Labor Day Weekend festivities, including back-to-back parties featuring the music of slicked-back and spray-tanned DJ Pauly D (Jersey Shore) on Friday, and the top drawer turntablism of Paul Oakenfold, celebrating the third anniversary of his Perfecto party on Saturday.  But few celebrity stars shine as brightly as that of the man hosting the zenith of Palms’ weekend, with a poolside brouhaha at Palms Pool & Bungalows – the man we know as Diddy.

Diddy - Rain
Diddy makin' it rain

Whether you know him as the man in those over-the-top hip-hop videos featuring non-stop parties on yachts filmed through the fish-eye lens of Hype Williams, or the producer behind Bad Boy Records, or the one-time lover of J-Lo, or the face of Ciroc Vodka, or the designer of the award winning menswear collection Sean John, or just the entrepreneur whose fortune Forbes estimated recently as fast-approaching the half-billion dollar mark – Sean Combs is just a juggernaut to behold.

Diddy - Just a man with a
dinner jacket and a dream

My favorite Diddy moment occurred a few years back, during MAGIC, at Light at Bellagio (now The Bank), where I joined the sister to my mister, Miss Amy Sacco, for the Sean John party.  While there, Diddy took to the stage, and – dressed in a fierce seersucker tuxedo of his own design – began dancing with a life-sized cardboard cut-out of himself.  Now, that’s chutzpah!  Combs and I reminisced about this, a couple years later, and he laughed.  I’ve always appreciated anyone who can laugh at himself.  It shows great strength of character, in my book.

Diddy - Flyer

Anyhoo – it should be a heckuva party.  You just know, Diddy wouldn’t have it any other way.
