LL3LL2I love Lisa Lampanelli.

It’s not a particularly original sentiment, as “Comedy’s Loveable Queen of Mean” is a much beloved stand-up prognosticator and a regular fixture on the dais of virtually every roast you might’ve seen on Comedy Central over the past decade (including those of Hugh Hefner, Chevy Chase, Jeff Foxworthy, Pamela Anderson, William Shatner, Flava Flav, Larry the Cable Guy, and David Hasselhoff).  But it’s a true statement, and one worth sharing.

LL7An insult comic in the order of the great Don Rickles, nobody is spared from Lampanelli’s quiver of barbs – least of all, herself (à la the late Rodney Dangerfield, which is part of what makes her so endearing).

LL4The last time Lisa Lamp was in town, I joined her and her then-fiancé (now husband) Jimmy “Big Balls” Cannizzarro, at the Playboy Club for champagne and stogies.  I was thrilled to confirm (as I had come to suspect, in our phone conversations) that in-person she carries herself with a genuine sweetness that belies her on-stage persona.

LL5Brassy and sassy, clever and kind…  It’s a powerful package that adds-up to one hysterical performer.

Tomorrow night, she’s back in Vegas, performing once again at Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort.  Get your tickets, now.  And sit close to the stage, if you dare.  After all, it’s all in good fun.
