Hail the Five-Js of BritCom – Jennifer, Joanna, Julia, June, and Jane (Saunders, Lumley, Sawalha, Whitfield, and Horrocks, respectively) – the stars of Absolutely Fabulous.  The BBC’s revolutionary series about gross excess, fashion victimology, and obsessive celebrity emulation, has returned to celebrate its 20th Anniversary with a trio of new episodes that are appearing in the US on BBC America and Logo.

The newest cycle picks-up two years into the future; and while the jokes and gags might not be as biting and sidesplittingly brilliant as they were in the show’s heyday, it’s still damned funny and piquantly poignant (while showing Saffy the pages full of nobodies that now fill the gossip rags, Edina and Patsy rant about “…a new disease called The Kardashians”).

Remember – this is the series where God was portrayed by Marianne Faithfull (in head-to-toe Gucci by Tom Ford); in which the main character “almost religiously” practices Buddhism, and that inspired young fashionistas everywhere to misguidedly search their local magazine stands for Abyssinian Vogue.

Welcome back, Sweetie Darlings!  Boli Stolis for everyone!
