A half-dozen years ago, French EDM maestro Christophe Le Friant – better known by his nom-de-disc, Bob Sinclar – released “Love Generation” - an instant hit that went-on to become a worldwide dance sensation. The anthem to the 2006 FIFA World Cup, “Love Generation” features an infectious groove, love-espousing lyrics, and reggae-infused rhythms featuring the vocals of Gary Nesta Pine from the legendary Wailers.
“Love Generation” was followed soon-after by the much darker sounding (but equally popular) “World, Hold On (Children of the Sky)” – featuring the vocals of Steve Edwards. The next year, a remix by producer E-Smoove garnered the song a Grammy nomination in the category of Best Remixed Recording: Non-Classical. A few years later, in 2010, the fashion company Guess optioned the track for its online web campaign.
For the past couple of years, Le Friant, has been collaborating with some of the biggest names in funk, soul, r&b, and reggae, including Shabba Ranks, The Sugarhill Gang’s Wonder Mike and Master Gee, Shaggy, Sean Paul, and – for his two most recent singles, Pitbull, Dragonfly and Fatman Scoop (for “Rock the Boat” – co-written by The Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox); and Snoop Dogg (for “Wild Thing” a postmillennial reworking of the version by Tone Lōc, not the one by The Troggs).
Now, this Sunday, in fact, Bob Sinclar will be headlining at Wet Republic Ultra Pool for the kind of daytime revelry rarely seen this side of the Mississippi. So, get ready to laissez les bon temps rouler, poolside, at Wet Republic at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, for a day of sensational music and dancing, where you can really let your hair down (and in the words of retro bandleader Mike Flowers, “if you can’t let your hair down, then just take it off…”).
