Sometimes I think to myself “Self, is it just too much?  Is this too over-the-top for others to comprehend?”  And oftentimes it (whatever it might be) is.  Such was the case recently when Sugar Factory unveiled the first Million Dollar Couture Pop when Kim Kardashian sashay-shantéd her way down the red carpet at the grand opening of Sugar Factory American Brasserie at Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino this weekend.

With stores at The Mirage and inside the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, this spectacular new flagship location is not only a wonderland of sweet treats (including the signature Couture Pops designed for such celebrities as KK, the Pussycat Dolls, Mel B, and Britney Spears) but is also a restaurant (akin to a more swanky and stylish Grand Lux Café, complete with a lavish Chocolate Room, overseen by French chocolatier Michael Gillet (he's from Burgundy, but studied in Paris), who has assumed the role of Sugar Factory’s corporate pastry chef.

My favorite area of the new venue would have to be the Fondue Bar, where each seat at the bar comes with its own fondue pot.

Partaking of the sweetness at the grand opening were PEEPSHOW stars Holly Madison, Josh Strickland and Lara Croft, Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin, Robin Leach, Nick Cannon, reality personality Whitney Port, and Kim's younger half-sister, Kylie Jenner; as well as two of the Brasserie's partners, Corey Jenkins and Rollie Sturm, with whom I stood, looking-out at the crowds of people who had come to see what they had created.

Rounding-out the crowd was longtime Las Vegas nightlife executive, Michael Greco (previously the Director of Entertainment at Palms Casino Resort), who - along with Candace Carrell (last seen helming the ship at Aura at Atlantis on Paradise Island) have reunited to oversee the party at Sugar Factory's affiliated nightclub, Chateau (also at Paris Las Vegas).  But more on that, to come...

As for that Million Dollar Couture Pop, it was a three-way creative collaboration between financier Joshua Pianko, diamond purveyor Ido Izkovich from The Perfect Princess Cut, and jeweler Mario Leiva from Simāyof.  It is covered with 125 carats of perfectly-matched diamonds with a color rating of D – F (i.e. colorless), and a clarity rating of VVSI, all set into one of Sugar Factory’s signature Couture Pops, made from 200 grams of 18 karat white gold.

After Kim’s walk down the red carpet, the bejeweled candy-holder was placed in a guarded glass case, where it remains on display at Sugar Factory American Brasserie, for all to oogle.

But I’ll let you in on a little secret.  Kim wasn’t actually the first person to be photographed, mugging with the Million Dollar Couture Pop.  That honor actually goes to me.  In the words of Charlie Sheen: “Winner!”
