Angel Management Group has steadily grown into a nightlife behemoth, which is ironic considering how mild-mannered its principals are.  But, to paraphrase the great Theodore Roosevelt, to succeed in Las Vegas club-land, you’ve gotta speak softly and book big DJs.  Actually “big DJs” does AMG’s roster of talent a disservice, seeing as this Memorial Day Weekend, at Wet Republic Ultra Pool and Hakkasan Nightclub – both at the beautifully updated MGM Grand – the line-up includes the likes of Tiësto, Calvin Harris, and Steve Aoki.

And while I could fill pages writing about those guys, their gigs have already sold-out.  But fear not, MDW revelers!  Each venue is bookending the weekend with events featuring international heavyweights that will fill your EDM mug to the rim (and likely splash over).

Thursday night at Hakkasan, it’s Dutch-Filipino spinmeister, Lucas Cornelis van Scheppingen; better known to fans as Laidback Luke (and whilst I think his given name is far more fierce, one has to admit that his nom de disque is far more suitable for billboards and flyers).   Then, on Friday, another Dutchman (this one of Morrocan descent), Fadil El Ghoul aka R3HAB will be whipping Wet Republic into a musical lather, alongside that Aussie goodtime guy, Tommy Trash (née Thomas Olsen).

Soak in the last rays of the long weekend, on Monday, with deadmau5 unhooked (which is the same as Canadian Joel Thomas Zimmerman’s “hooked” gigs – sans the LED mau5-head, the cube, and other artifice).  Later, if you’re still ambulatory (and God bless you, if you are), shimmy on over to Hakkasan to close-out the weekend to electronic music impresario, Hardwell, (or as his Dutch passport reads, Robbert van de Corput).

And while it’s a sad indictment of our education system, it bodes well for those of us partying in Las Vegas that the people of Holland (not to mention those from Canada and Australia) speak better English than most Americans.  Of course, music transcends language.  Still, I can't help but think that with the amount of frozen watermelon mojitos and champagne certain to be flowing this weekend, odds are that by Monday night we're gonna be talking like Jodie Foster in Nell, anyhow.
