There’s just something loveable about ABC's Modern Family. It’s funny, it’s comfortable, and it’s immediately recognizable. I see parts of my whole family portrayed by the wonderful ensemble cast. Also, it reminds me vaguely of Soap - a sitcom so far ahead of its time when it ran in the late ‘70s that it’s still relevant, nearly 30 years later.
Eric Stonestreet
I’m actually so amused by Modern Family that oftentimes I watch it more than once to see what little gestures, ticks, twitches and mumbled-sarcasms I might have missed the first time around.
More often than not, I'm laughing so hard that I’m forced to replay scenes over and over on my TiVo. Recently, I made the mistake of watching it after working-out with my trainer (for real!) and got muscle spasms – in the abs I’ve apparently been developing – from laughing. I literally laughed till it hurt!
Sofía Vergara, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet
My favorites in the cast are Sofía Vergara who plays Gloria (the curvaceous Latina sexpot stepmom) with over-enunciated delight; Julie Bowen as Claire (the sister who is constantly exasperated by her husband and three kids); Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Mitchell (the fussy brother and gay-partnered new dad); and Eric Stonestreet as Cameron (the big and boisterous yang to Mitchell’s anchored yin). That said it’s the cast as an ensemble, as well as the superb writing, that adds-up to what television is in its purest form – escapist entertainment.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Julie Bowen
BTW – I’m constantly finding parts of myself represented by Cameron,
Mitchell, and Claire. Who knew?
Needless to say, when I heard that ABC had officially picked-up Modern Family for a full second season, I hooted with glee (I’m infatuated with Glee, too – but my Gleekiness will keep for another day).
Modern Family runs on Wednesday nights at 9/8c on ABC. Get into it!
Check-out the clip, below, to watch how Ferberizing and The Karate Kid are both referenced in under 20sec. Now, THAT'S impressive!

I totally agree with you on Modern Family! I find the show completely loveable and hilarious! I particularly love the gay brother's partner - the scene where he debuted their baby girl is one of the best scenes ever!
