The second stop on my magical mystery tour, that evening, was the presentation of Dior’s Cruise 2017 Collection, hosted by Andrea Wynn, in the Dior Boutique on the Wynn Esplanade. A benefit for Nevada Ballet Theatre, the boutique was a cacophony of clinking glasses, and cheerful banter between old friends (because, as you might assume, in the rarified world of Las Vegas’ Dior habitués, it takes one to know one).
There were more men than I’d expect for an in-store event, such as this; as a number of the ladies came with their husbands. Who knew fashion previews were the new way to start your date night? Lord knows that I’m certainly not complaining, but it’s worth filing away. Of course, while the ladies examined the new looks and accessories, the men talked about whatever it is they talk about (I can only venture a guess, since after my hellos, at these sorts of things; I’m invariably chatting with the ladies).
In addition to Mrs. Wynn, there was a strong Wynn presence, including Janie & Marc Schorr, Kay & Matt Maddox, Jessica and Maurice Wooden, Bob DeSalvio (SVP of Development, who's speerheading Wynn's forthcoming resort, outside of Boston), Nehme Abouzeid (by the time you read this, Wynn’s former Executive Director of Brand & Entertainment Marketing, who will have accepted the role of SVP/CMO for Las Vegas’ as-yet-named NHL franchise); and of course, Hedy Woodrow (SVP, Retail) under whose purview all things fashion fall, at a Wynn resort. Meanwhile, making sure all of Dior’s ducks were in the proverbial row, was Karen Watkins (EVP/COO, Christian Dior Couture).
Among those mixing and mingling on behalf of NBT were Madeline & Don Andress, Sheryl & Rob Goldstein, Lynn & Bill Weidner, Stella & Rob Roy, and Beth Barbre & John Magnan.
Andrea Bennett (Editor, WYNN and VEGAS magazines) was on the scene in a sassy LBD, that she would change out of before hitting stop number three, clad in a longer evening look; and that’s a dedication that I admire, seeing as I wore the same rags to all three affairs.
I wish I’d had more time to peruse the new collection – especially as I’m a huge fan of Maria Grazia Chiuri, who (after 17 years working at Valentino, most recently as co-Creative Director, alongside Pierpaolo Piccioli) had taken the reins as Dior’s Creative Director, after the departure of Raf Simons. But, I had yet another event to get to, and it’d started an hour earlier; so away I flew, up to Summerlin, for the grand opening of RH Las Vegas, The Gallery at Tivoli Village. But you can come back and read all about that, in Part 3!
