Odds are, if you’ve visited a newsstand in an American airport over the past 30 years, it’s been one of Hudson News’ 700 US outlets – which makes sense, seeing as Hudson News is the largest airport newsstand retailer in North America.  Not coincidentally, the parent company, Hudson Group (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Switzerland’s Dufry AG) is this continent’s biggest duty-paid travel retailer.

What’s this gotta do with anything?  Well, Hudson Group has just opened The Atrium at the Palazzo – a one-of-a-kind, 16,000 square foot luxury multivendor retail concept, abutting the casino floor at the Palazzo.  This is the first time that Hudson has purveyed multiple luxury vendors in one hotel boutique setting.

Recently, just before the upscale emporium’s opening, I was invited by Hudson Group’s Ellen Bramble (Regional VP, Hotel & Specialty Retail) to preview the store; and I’ve gotta say, the accessories, fine jewelry and watches, beauty and fragrance, and liquor, have all been curated, sublimely.

“Think of the Atrium as a one-stop luxury shopping destination, curated for locals and tourists alike,” says Bramble.  “It’s where the allure of a luxury Vegas shopping destination meets the fashionably conscious.”

For your edification, here’s a listing, broken down by department, of the amazing luxury vendors you’ll find, at the Atrium...

AccessoriesBally, Burberry, Dunhill, MCM, Porsche Design, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Tumi

Furthermore, in the Accessories department, you’ll find personal electronics by Bang & Olufson, Master & Dynamic, Moshi, RHA, and Westone; as well as sunglasses by more luxury brands than – well, there’s a ton of ‘em!

Fine JewelryGregg Ruth, John Hardy, Marco Bicego, Pasquale Bruni, Roberto Coin, Stephen Webster, and Yvel

WatchesBovet, Carl F. Bucherer, Christophe Claret, Chronoswiss AG, Dewitt, Dior, Dubey & Schaldenbrand, Ernst Benz, Franck Muller, and Parmigiani Fleurier

BeautyBobby Brown, Burberry Beauty, Clinique, Estee Lauder, La Mer, La Prarie, MAC, and Tom Ford

FragranceBond No. 9, Bulgari, Chanel, Ferragamo, House of Silage, Jo Malone, and Truefitt & Hills

What I most enjoy about this concept is that while on first glance, you might think “This is the most luxurious sundries store I’ve ever seen” and file it away under Places for Out-of-Towners; I have a strong feeling that the Atrium will become a handy resource for locals.  For a certain caliber of customer, it’s destined to become their go-to, for luxe goods ranging from high-end stocking stuffers to housewarming gifts.

According to Bramble, “The Atrium will be the first for many brand experiences, in all of our categories, beginning with Holiday and leading into 2017.  For instance, we have partnered with Absolut to launch Elyx with Felix, on Thanksgiving weekend; making ours the only store on the Strip to carry this luxury gift, in time for the holiday.”  This means that you’ll be able to get your sip on while you’re getting your shop on; and that’s a lot of what Las Vegas is all about!

Bramble continues by moving on to the collection of timepieces, at the Atrium.  “We have several rare, one-of-a-kind, and limited edition watches that are not to be found, anywhere else in Las Vegas (and in some cases, the world!), ranging from Bovet to Christophe Claret.”

Meanwhile, stay tuned for a second outlet of the Atrium to open on the Venetian side of the resort, to open in early December.  Season’s greetings!
