Everyone in Las Vegas is all a-twitter about the opening of RUMOR – The Las Vegas Boutique Resort.  What’s more, this weekend is the new property’s VIP Preview Weekend.  A pair of days that will begin with sunrise yoga and conclude with dancing ‘til dawn, the merriment includes such highlights as cocktail receptions, a European-style pool-party, gourmet meals, and late-night reveling.

Naturally, I’ll be there (with Sammy), in the middle of the mix (well, maybe not so much the middle; as from the shade of a nice cabana on the periphery).  But, my first time at RUMOR this is not – nor even my second.  I was invited to walk the resort while it was still in its hard-hat phase, and it was obvious then that this was going to be more than just a casual “sprucing-up” but rather a job complete with knocking-down of walls, reconfiguring rooms into suites, and thoughtful consideration given to guest comfort.

I returned again, last weekend, to meet-up once more with the team Stephen Siegel has put together.  We met for cocktails (I sampled both the Blood & Sage and the Rumor Mojo, and was delighted with both) and some nibble-y things from the kitchen, courtesy of Chef Vic Vegas (I’m pretty sure that’s his “stage name” - a nom de cuisine, if you will…).  Sweet guy, that Vic: he makes these delectable deep-fried Truffled Mac-and-cheese Bites that are just scrumptious.  Actually a two-bite item (even with my big mouth), these yummy morsels rock!

With its youthful energy (that starts with a youthful executive team – most of whom are barely in their 30s, while Siegel himself is still shy of 40), the Philippe Starke-does-Palm Springs décor, and a vibrant Vegas vitality that includes a refreshing (if not brow-raising) absence of attitude, word on the street is that this RUMOR is gonna be huge!

And while I’m delighted for you to simply take my word for it (an inclination to which you are obviously inclined – otherwise, why would you be reading this?), I encourage you to check-out this weekend’s festivities.  While some of the events are by invitation only, some – including the pool-party on Saturday and the nighttime celebrations on both Friday and Saturday nights – still have limited space available, not to mention some of Las Vegas’ most groovaliscious DJs, including DJ Shoe and Michael White.

If you see me, this weekend, feel free to come over and congratulate me on my pending nuptials (congratulations are given to the groom, while best wishes are bestowed upon the bride – but everyone knows that, right?).  Of course, odds are that between the oscillating rain-shower, the large bathtub, and the large flat-screen TV, sightings of me outside my suite might be scarce; unless Sammy and I are availing ourselves of RUMOR’s custom dog-run.  I know, I know – life’s ruff!
