 Regent Seven Seas Voyager
|
I’m particularly psyched at the moment, because Jacob and I are embarking upon a great adventure… A gaysian extravaganza of nearly four-weeks, the trip will center around “The Orient Odyssey” – a two-week cruise wherein I will be coming from you from a penthouse suite aboard the posh Regent Seven Seas Voyager. (If you listen, you can just hear Rita Hayworth uttering that wonderful line, “You need more than luck in Shanghai.”)
The New Business Class on Singapore Airlines |
A 14-night luxury cruise from Singapore to Hong Kong… I’m literally going to be “on a slow boat to China.” How genius is that? One hyperbolic life experience - Down. Next up - heading someone “off at the Pass!” Meanwhile, I wonder how much mileage I can get from that “slow boat to China” bit, while I’m actually on the ship. Furthermore, I wonder what the over/unders are. (Yes folks. That’s what happens, after living in Las Vegas for any extended period of time.)
I welcome any and all legitimate tips or suggestions about the trip. So, if you’ve got any, please click this Contact Us link, and zap me a message.

The New Business Class on Singapore Airlines |
While the days in between each port are spent at sea (aka “Sea Days”), we will be staying at the St. Regis Singapore while in (you guessed it) Singapore, and at the W Hong Kong while in (yes…) Hong Kong, with an overnight side-trip spent at Wynn Macau. Jacob and I are meeting-up at LAX, from where we will be flying on Singapore Airlines, on their non-stop service to Singapore. A 20 ½ hour flight, but the whole plane (an A340-500) consists of 100 of the airline's new Business Class seats, and it’s supposed to be wonderful. Rest assured, I’ll let you know. We somewhat reverse the process, on our return, flying from Hong Kong to San Francisco, before going our separate ways, again, once more. That Juliet was right, when she declared “Parting is such sweet sorrow.”

Naturally, I will be posting to the site as often as possible (daily, with any luck: Technology being what it is, it’ll be like I never left, what with Skype, BlackBerry Messenger, e-mail, and the good, old-fashioned telephone.). I will continue to write about all the haps in Las Vegas, dishing on any fierce goings-on and upcoming events that strike my fancy. Also, all the pop-cult minutiae that you’ve come to know and love, as well as sporadic updates about my travels (for in-depth travel blogging, and about this trip in particular, get into JetSetWay.com - my dad’s site, dedicated to his experiences in luxury travel and fine dining).
That’s all, for now. More from Singapore, on Monday-ish… |
